“ Chocolate cocktails seemed like just the kind of decadent thing we needed on a girls' day out. I've never been to a Hotel Chocolat bar so was quite excited. The cocktails weren't cheap but not excessive. I ordered a praline cooler and my friends each ordered a salted caramel cooler. I was going to get an espresso martini but was convinced by my friends to get something you can't get elsewhere. The cocktail was really good, chocolatey and boozy and a little bit nutty. Just the kind of extra luxurious thing you need when catching up with your girls! The service wasn't spectacular. We couldn't really tell if we ordered at the bar or at the table and felt a bit like we had been dumped in a corner and left. Also as we got to pay we discovered their card machine wasn't working which left us scrabbling for change. These things happen of course but we could have been told at some point before approaching the till to pay. ”
“ I heard of Hotel Chocolat on various chocolate blogs as being a great British brand for upscale chocolate. This is not your Cadbury but neither is it your 'bean to bar' pretentious upturn nose brand. I wanted to bring back some treats to Canada and wow, did this place ever fit the bill. Housed together with their 2 story restaurant/cafe, the Hotel Chocolat store is a spacious wonderland of Chocolate. Willy Wonka may be jealous! Service here is really great... they proactively ask you if they can help! Novel! I was mentioning how I had a little one back home who loves great chocolate but I wanted to give her things that she would only find unique to the UK or the brand itself. She was quick to point me AWAY from the boxed assorted mixes and to the chocolate sets instead... to build my own array that better fits a little one. This was great not only because it made for a better mix of tastes for us but also it was more affordable! We did get the Eton Mess (the dried berry with the white chocolate was really great), the billionare shortbread (we need more like this in Canada. Great), and salted caramel creams (something different and quite enjoyable). We savoured each bite back in Canada as we knew it'd be a few weeks more till I get back to the UK. Loved the brand, the service, and all the flavours. I'll definitely come back to pick up more. ”
“ On a visit to Leeds I really liked the look of hotel chocolate coffee shop, we don't have one in Manchester so I decided to go on in.inside I was shown to my table and given a menu for drinks, I asked if I could see a dessert menu, the waitresses brought one to me and stood over me whilst I chose a cake(no pressure then).I must say the salted caramel brownie was to die, for shame about the staff, I would go back again, it's something a little different. ”
“ Ive never seen a hotel chocolate cafe before. So as soon as a saw it i new i had to go in. We was approached as we went in and got escorted to a table. It was very quiet so we got a window seat. We didn't want food so we just asked for the drinks and desert menu. All the deserts were home made. The most popular drinks were the hot chocolates. I ordered a classic hot chocolate and a salted caramel brownie. They were both delicious abit to sickly to have them both together i no but i managed. Would recommend for something abit different ”
“ The restaurant is fab, staff friendly and helpful. Bit pricey so for special occasions ”
“ This shop continues to impress and when I last went in they still had a cute guy handing out samples!!! My children hate the majority of their chocolate which is a sign of the quality in itself and given that we once lived in Belgium where they experienced fine chocolate as younger children this is a complete mystery to me. Well hey ho Cadburys is considerably cheaper so every cloud has a silver lining! Back to the wonderful Hotel Chocolat, it's products are glossy, beautiful to look at and very well packaged. I have never had anything that has failed to please and I have tested a lot. It is a good place to buy chocolate gifts and its seasonal stock is always glamorous. Not cheap, definitely in the next choco box layer above Thorntons but worth every penny! ”
“ In my three years of living in Leeds and almost a year of living in the city centre I have managed to avoid Hotel Chocolate until now. And I say avoid because this shop is dangerous! If it's not the walls of chocolate corner to corner it's the cute guy handing out chocolate samples. Bliss. I've heard such great things about his place, perfectly located in the city centre near the Body Shop, it should be visited if not to just smell the shop's chocolaty aroma. The shop is perfectly decorated and inside you will be attracted to all sorts of things. I particularly loved the truffle section, every truffle you could imagine, amazing. And for such renowned shop the prices weren't half bad considering you are paying for worldwide known chocolate. A bag of pralines came in at around £3.75 and they looked too good to pass up, so I bought them. If you're not in to fussy chocolate, which I know a lot of people aren't, they also do simple chocolate drops which they somehow make to look incredible. Don't expect to come here and find your Cadburys cream eggs, no, no, no, this place is exotic though and through and perfect for you chocoholics! They sometimes collaborate and I especially loved the Barbie range they had at one point. I mean it was chocolate but it looked cool as well. ”
“ Wouldn't it be just grand if Hotel Chocolat was indeed a Chocolate Hotel. That would be scrumptious! Sadly for me and the other chocolate freaks out there it isn't, but what it is, well, it's a luxury chocolate establishment that not only tantalises your tastebuds, but gives your eyes and nose a sensory treat too. With Valentine's Day approaching, Hotel Chocolat provides a welcome shake up to all the run of the mill chocolate gifts unadventurous other halves will be scrambling for on Saturday afternoon when mad panic ensues. There's plenty to impress with, the large hearts are works of art just for the eyes. The pink and fruity one is super girly, and will go down a treat with girlfriends for all those hapless boyfs out there. Even it's just to appreciate the craftsmanship that's gone into those square feet of chocolate wonders. The fruit and nut version of this large heart looks like a piece of sculpture. It is magnificent, at £28 it's worth it just this once. The store is nicely open plan, so it's perfect to spot your target and have a general nosey at what else is in the offing. From the small trinket treats to the large hampers, there's a splash of decadence for everyone's budget. The sheer effort gone into the show pieces is extraordinary, and worth paying, to make someone smile. I'm already bracing myself for the Easter Eggs, as they are natural, colourful, and make a good solid Easter gift for a kidlet or special half. Aside from gifts and trinkets there's a good selection of chocolate boxes, cooking chocolate, bagged chocolate treats, Smudge (I shalln't explain as it's worth going in, buying, tasting and finding out for yourself), drinking chocolate, chocolate slabs, and probably many other chocolate things I've failed to mention. There's also a nice and adventurous combination of flavours here, different to the normal chocolate box selections, and that's part of what makes the price so acceptable. ”
“ Hotel Chocolat is indeed a little pricey but rather delicious and special so I'll not whine too much. Imagine a step up from Thorntons and you have Hotel Chocolat. Clean, white looking shop with huge shelves just packed full of chocolates in gift sets, packages or boxes. I bought some Tiddly Pots from here which were assorted pots of baby buttons in different flavours. Great stocking fillers for christmas along with the Tiddly Santas and Tiddly Reindeer chocolate boxes. You can also buy drinking chocolate from here and other chocolately accessories. Beware, if you go in you will buy something. It's a dieters nightmare. ”
